Motret Model? Gampang..... - The Idiots guide on Model photoshoot

Salam,

Q: Enaknya pakai kamera apa?

Sony A7s - Nikkor 55mm

Pentax 645z
Q: Pake Flash atau tidak?
A: Flash bersifat fill in ke gambar, saat mengambil gambar model, perhatikan lingkungan sekitar, apakah memang perlu memakai tambahan cahaya dari flash atau tidak, dan juga hindari penggunaan pop-up flash kamera karena akan membuat obyek anda over exposure dan background anda menjadi gelap.
Fuji Xt1 - 56mm

Fuji X100T
Q: Lensa apa? Wide? Tele? Normal?
A: Lensa ibarat mata manusia, dimana kita terbiasa melihat, itulah lensa yang cocok buat kita.

Leica Monochrom - 90mm Summicron
Leica Monochrom - 90mm Summicron
Q: Apa enak moto rame-rame?

Selamat mencoba.... :)

Kalimas Surabaya - The Traditional Sea Port

Kalimas traditional seaport is located at the east of Kalimas River, lies about 10 kilometers west of Kenjeran beach. Comprising a two-kilometre stretch of warehouse and wharves along the East ward flank of Tanjung Perak, Kalimas is a living history of Surabaya's maritime heritage where carts and human toil continue to load and unload merchandise into and out of tile holds of brooch-beamed Phinisi Schooners. The best visit in order to see the loading and unloading activities is in the morning or before the sun, climbs too high and schooners set sail. The available facilities are; place parked, lodging and restaurant. It is easy reachable by various public vehicles.

Kalimas is the fraction of Brantas River that has upstream in Mojokerto town, flow into northeast direction and have estuary in Surabaya (Madura Strait). A hypothesis tell Kalimas is river becoming the gateway of Majapahit Kingdom, and in this river have ever happened encounter between Raden Wijaya (the founder of Majapahit) fight against Tar-tar (Mongol) team at 13th century.
Kali Mas is also as the limited line between Sidoarjo regency and Gresik regency. The estuary of Kalimas is traditional port of Surabaya, which have been there since for centuries ago. A number of the bridges getting through Kalimas in Surabaya now specified as culture pledge, refer to it historical value.

Went ther mid April 2015, and have a chance to shot a couple of activities around the area. It surely is a beautiful place to take picture.

Trip to Sawarna Beach Banten

Overlooking the vast open Indian Ocean, featuring crystal clear blue water and stretches of white sandy beach, shaded bybeautiful rows of sheltering trees, the Sawarna Beach is without a doubt one of the most beautiful beaches in the province of Banten.

Located by a peaceful little village on the south coast of Java Island,  Sawarna Beach offers a host of natural wonders such asits rushing river, lush forest, rocky hills, caves, and more. The beautiful landscape is also shrouded in the myth of “Nyi Roro Kidul”, the mythical Queen of the South Seas, besides being replete with the history of coal exploitation in the nearby areas of Bayah and Lebak .

The beach is about 150km from the town of Rangkasbitung, center of Banten Province.
The beauty of Sawarna beach is truly captivating. Those who enjoy surfing will also find the waves at Sawarna quitechallenging. Its barreling waves have managed to attract surfers from all over the globe including those from USA, Australia, Japan, and Korea.

Beneath the surface, the underwater beauty of Sawarna also makes it a perfect place for snorkeling. Here, you can find most colorful coral reefs and various species of tropical fish. Some of the best spots for snorkeling are at Ciantir Beach, Tanjung Layar Beach, Karang Bokor Beach, Karang Seupang Beach, Karang Traraje Beach, and Legon Pari Bay.

Aside from its stunning beaches, Sawarna also offers fascinating adventure opportunities in some of its spectacular caves, such as the Lalay Cave, the Sikadir Cave, Cimaul Cave, Singalong Cave, and Pasir Tangkil Cave. The caves at Sawarna are Karst caves that were formed during the early Miocene period.

So I was there medio March 2015 with some friends, traveling  about 8 hours from Jakarta, and yes it was so beautiful. We managed to take some good pictures along the trip and here they are.

A Makeshift Negatif Film Scanner

Since I've been shooting with analog, I've got a little problem to scan the image from negative to digital, especially for the 120mm film, as the scanner price is quite high, and I didn't want to invest my money on that thing....

So finally I've got a link from my friend on how to make a makeshift scanner from a shoebox

Basically you make a square hole on top of the box with the exact measurement of your negative film (my case I'm using 120mm)

scanner
The shoe box scanner
And also we need to make a holster for the film to slide using a piece of HVS paper.
After that make a peeping hole that big enough for your digital camera or mobile phone

Using a lamp inside the box, simply slide the film to the holster and then take the picture of the slide.
The box with film in and the lamp is on

Export that to photoshop and invert the image
Image exported to photoshop

Voila!! the image start to appear.
image after being inverted

Edit as you like and here you go, a scanner for under $2 and within 10 minutes of work..
good luck

a little touch using Ps or Lightroom

Me and my Mamiya RB67

I was so lucky when I found out a Mamiya Rb67 for sale in one online forum, for a while I've been thinking to upgrade my skills using a medium format camera, And since the digital MF was so expensive, so I was aiming for an analog one, and my choice goes to Mamiya RB 67

There are lots of sites reviewing this beauty, so I'm not going to re-review this but I think I need to admire this beast. So, mine was RB67 Pro-S (1974-90) = Pro + double-exposure interlock + viewfinder landscape / portrait orientation indicator + self-erecting focusing hood.

The Mamiya RB67 is a very successful line of single-lens reflex medium format cameras made by the Mamiya Corporation.  The first model, the RB67 Pro, came out in 1970 and was made until 1974. They made some changes in it, renamed it the RB67 Pro-S and was produced until 1990. In 1990 they made further changes and renamed it the Pro-SD. The Pro-SD was still currently being sold new into the early 2000s. Mamiya also has a higher-tier line called the RZ series that features electronically controlled lenses and shutters.
The basic design and function of the RB hasn't changed over the past 30 years. Along with the Pentax 67 and Hasseblad 500 series, the RB 67 has remained the workhorse of professional studio photographers. (Karen Nakamura)

Visiting Istanbul in black and White

I always have a soft spot for taking BW pictures. Well afterall photography started with black and white. And after considering back and forth, last year I've managed to switch my M9 to M Monochrom, a big upgrade and also a big complaints from my wife as I've spent the whole amount of money to buy a "color-less" camera :)

So I've taken this beauty to Istanbul and try to get a couple of good shots out of it.

Please enjoy, and remember all the images were copyrighted.
